Monitorlink provides extra software for configuring Runsheet so that its exported output matches the needs of a given deposition controller. Because of compatibility issues, it is recommended that only one Monitorlink be activated in the Essential Macleod. In most cases, Runsheet must be present for the Monitorlink tool to be able to operate.

The operation depends on the particular Monitorlink. It may be necessary to arrange that the Runsheet be constrained according to the rules of the particular controller. The Monitorlink tool may simply create a file in the correct format to be read and understood by the given controller. Occasionally it may also be possible to read a controller file back into the Essential Macleod. In other cases, Monitorlink may be supplemented by a utility program that communicates directly with the controller.
